Tax Information

All Alaska Staff Development Network (ASDN) distance education courses are approved by an accredited Alaskan university as 500-level, professional development courses, and are approved by the State of Alaska for teacher re-certification.

ASDN courses are offered in partnership with accredited Alaskan universities, but enrollment in a professional development course is not the same as enrolling in a university degree program. For that reason, 1098-T forms are not available for ASDN classes.  ASDN is a non-profit organization that is not an eligible “educational institution” under the 1098-T definition, and our partner universities do not send out a 1098-T for professional development classes that are not part of their degree programs.

You may use your receipt from ASDN that shows your expenditures on professional learning/continuing education for your taxes.  Consult your tax professional for current information on educator tax deductions.  An informational article on educator tax deductions is here.

You may request a copy of your registration invoice(s).  Please email asdn@alaskaacsa.org
