Formative assessment is an active, continual process in which teachers and students work together to gather evidence of learning. It is one of the best ways to increase student learning and enhance teacher quality. But effective formative assessment is not part of most classrooms, largely because teachers misunderstand what it is and don’t have the necessary skills to implement it.

This webinar series is based around the book Advancing Formative Assessment in Every Classroom by Connie Moss and Susan Brookart (ASCD, 2009).  This series provides a practical guide for school leaders including strategic talking points, conversation starters, and ready-made tools needed to explain how formative assessment improves student learning and achievement.
