Alaska History and Multi-Cultural Education Certification

All Alaska Staff Development Network (ASDN) online courses are approved by an accredited Alaskan university as 500-Level, professional development courses, and are approved by the State of Alaska for teacher re-certification. Please note: if you are renewing or reinstating a certificate issued September 2, 2011 or later your six renewal credits must be (1) Related to your employment at the time of renewal, if that employment requires a certificate; (2) Related to at least one of your endorsement areas, or (3) A required element of a program that will lead to an endorsement that you are seeking.

Our Alaska History and Multicultural distance education courses meet the State of Alaska requirements for new teacher certification.

If you are taking courses to move up the pay scale in your district be sure and check your district’s requirements for salary advancement before enrolling in an ASDN class.  All ASDN courses are approved or pending approval in the Anchorage School District’s MLP system.

Communicating Across Cultures with Rev. Dr. Michael Oleksa

October 19, 20, 21 – Sitka, UAS Campus – Online follow up work due by December 10, 2017

Join the Rev. Dr. Michael Oleksa, a leader in the development of cross-cultural communication in Alaska and student of Native cultures for Communicating Across Cultures, a three-credit, 500-level multicultural education course this fall. This is a blending learning class and online follow up work is required. This course meets Alaska Department of Education and Early Development requirements for teacher certification and re-certification.  This course has been approved by the Alaska Board of Nursing for continuing education credits.  It has been approved on MLP by the Anchorage School District. Over a thousand Alaskan educators have participated in Father Oleksa’s classes over the last fifteen years.
